Is it legal to generate a lease online?

Produire un bail électronique en ligne est-ce légal ?

For decades, a paper lease has been the only option.

The electronic lease has become the norm and Bloc Solutions, a pioneer in its field, was the first company in Quebec to offer it. However, several criteria must be complied with, and it is justified to wonder about the legality of the digital lease.

Is Bloc Solutions’ electronic lease compliant?

With the electronic version of the lease, you no longer have to fill out the lease by hand and meet to sign it. With Bloc Solutions, everything is computerized and available at your fingertips.

Bloc Solutions’ platform allows you to print electronically generated leases easily. To do so, you must use a color printer that supports “large format” (legal - 8 ½" x 14" or 21.59 cm x 35.56 cm). Please note that Publications du Québec only accepts color-printed leases.

All residential leases can be generated, signed, and/or printed in French and English.

Are lease renewal notices also legal?

Similarly to the electronic lease generated on Bloc Solutions, the renewal notice created and transmitted by the platform complies with the requirements and criteria required by the TAL. The Bloc Solutions platform provides an acknowledged receipt that confirms that the tenant has received the renewal notice. It ensures the same validity as signing an acknowledged receipt when receiving registered mail, but eliminates all the inconveniences associated with that practice. Secure communications for efficient management

In addition to generating the lease and renewal notice, you can manage all your communications and service calls online on Bloc Solutions! The platform allows you to easily send a message to a tenant or a management team member. You can also send it to one or more people at the same time. To learn more about this feature, see Communications in Bloc Solutions.

You can also choose the preferred method of transmission:

  • Email
  • SMS
  • Voice call

Respect for the right to privacy

On the Bloc Solutions platform, the collection of information is done in total respect of the users’ right to privacy. This fundamental right is governed by the Act for the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector. This law sets out the rules for the collection, storage, use, and communication of personal information.
